In an effort to strengthen safety and response to possible emergencies in the State of Yucatan, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal<\/strong> has requested the local Congress and municipalities to implement a new top level fire regulation<\/strong> for the current industry and for future constructions in the region. This measure seeks to ensure that buildings have advanced fire prevention and response measures, including fire detection systems, suppression systems such as sprinklers, and fire hose recharge centers.<\/span><\/p>

During the commemoration of Firefighter’s Day, in which the valuable work of firefighters was recognized and specialized equipment was given to rescue personnel, the governor emphasized the importance of adopting state-of-the-art technology<\/strong> to effectively deal with emergencies that may arise in a context of population and urban growth in Yucatan.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The governor expressed his concern about the limited capacity of current resources<\/strong>, such as a patrol car with a 20,000 liter water capacity that runs out in just six minutes without a nearby refueling source. He therefore urged legislators to work in collaboration with municipalities to establish new and more stringent regulations for all current industry<\/strong> and in future construction to ensure the inclusion of effective fire detection and suppression systems<\/strong> such as working sprinklers as well as refill points for water pipes in new buildings. These measures are considered essential to provide a safe environment and give firefighters the tools and advantages needed to effectively perform their duties.<\/span><\/p>

Commander Santiago Massa Ramos<\/strong>, director of Fire and Rescue of the Ministry of Public Safety and leader of the Honorable Fire Department, supported the governor’s remarks, highlighting the significant challenges they face due to the steady growth in the region. Massa Ramos emphasized the need for continuous preparation and equipment in order to meet the growing demand for emergency services. So far this year, firefighters have already responded to more than 9,500 calls, showing the vital importance of their work by responding to a call every 10 minutes and facing an average of 139 incidents per day<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Despite these challenges, Yucatan boasts the best organized and equipped fire department in the country<\/strong>, which allows them to maintain an impressive response time of between 7 and 12 minutes. In recognition of the exceptional work of the firefighters and paramedics, the Secretary of Public Safety, Luis Felipe Said\u00e9n Ojeda<\/strong>, expressed the respect and appreciation that the people of Yucatan feel for these local heroes. So far this year, firefighters have responded to more than 9,500 calls<\/strong>, while paramedics have attended to 23,000 people<\/strong> in emergency situations. As a token of support, the official delivery of 10 water trucks was made, 5 with a capacity of 20,000 liters of water, and 5 of 10,000 liters, adding to the 20 new units of this type acquired during his administration.
