Arc Flash
What to do in case it happens?
An arcflash is a release of high intensity electrical energy that can cause serious damage to people and electrical equipment. For this reason, it is important to take precautionary measures and follow the following advice in the event of an arcflash:
Disconnect the power: If possible, disconnect the electrical power source before attempting to address the problem. If this is not possible, move everyone away from the hazardous area and call emergency services.
Protect yourself: Wear personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, insulating gloves and protective clothing, to protect yourself from explosions and burns.
Assess the damage: Once electrical power has been interrupted, assess the damage and determine if it is necessary to call a qualified electrician to repair the damaged equipment.
Call emergency services: If an injury has occurred, call emergency services for medical attention.
Investigate the cause: After the electrical equipment has been repaired, investigate the cause of the arcflash and take steps to prevent future incidents.
It is important to keep in mind that arcflashes are dangerous events and should be treated with due caution and attention. Therefore, it is advisable to have a backup plan in case of an arcflash, and to train employees on the procedures to follow in case of an emergency.
